Content marketing studio · Manchester
Content that shows up in the pipeline report, not just the content calendar.
We write, publish and measure long-form content for B2B software and scaling DTC brands. Every piece has a number attached to it, and you get the number on the first Monday of the month.

Services
The scope of work, line by line
Everything we do is a line item with a cadence and a deliverable. Retainers combine three or more of these; projects take one.
Content strategy and keyword map
Where the demand actually is, which of it you can win, and in what order. We rebuild the map every quarter from your search console, your CRM and the calls your sales team keeps having.
- Keyword map
- Topic clusters
- Quarterly plan
- Brief backlog
Long-form articles and guides
Researched, interviewed, edited twice and published on a Tuesday. Written to rank and to be forwarded, which are not the same thing and we do both.
- 2,000 to 3,500 words
- On-page SEO
- Diagrams and pull quotes
- Internal links
Newsletter
A fortnightly issue your list opens because it says one useful thing well. We write it, design it, send it and read the replies.

- Send and A/B subject
- Reply triage
Launch and campaign content
The announcement post, the landing page, the sales one-pager and the eight social cuts, all from one brief so they say the same thing.

Reporting and optimisation
One page, first Monday of the month: what we published, what it did, what we are changing. Older pieces get refreshed when the report says so.

Work, with the number attached
Every engagement gets a result line in the portfolio. These are the ones we are allowed to talk about.
Client results
Before and after, per client
The same metric, measured the same way, at the start of the engagement and today. Timeframes are on every row because a number without one is a slogan.
Process
How a piece moves through the studio
Six columns, one card per stage. You can see the board itself if you want to; most clients just read the Monday report.
Search data, sales calls and three customer interviews. We find the question people actually type.
One page: the reader, the angle, the target term, the sources, the number it has to move.
Written by the person who did the research, with the interviews quoted, never summarised.
Two passes: one for the argument, one for the sentences. Then the client's subject expert reads it.
Tuesday, 9am. Designed diagrams, internal links, schema, the newsletter mention and the social cuts.
Rank, traffic, assisted pipeline. If it stalls we refresh it; if it flies we write the next one in the cluster.
About
A memo about how we work
The short version of what a first month with us looks like, written the way we write everything else.
We started Quartz in 2019 because the content we were being asked to make at bigger agencies was measured by how much of it there was. We wanted to be measured by what it did. So we publish less than most studios, we interview real customers before we write a word, and every piece goes into a report with a number beside it.
- 01 We publish on Tuesdays. Every retainer has a slot. It has not been missed since 2021, including the week the office flooded.
- 02 You get one page a month. First Monday: what we published, what it did, what we are changing. No deck, no dashboard you have to learn.
- 03 The people in the pitch do the work. There are four of us and no account managers. The person who interviews your customers writes the piece.

Our own report line. Updated at the start of each quarter, the same way we update yours.
Client notes
Comments left on the report
Pulled, with permission, from the margins of the monthly reports we send. Marked resolved because we replied.
I forwarded this page to our CEO without editing it, which has never happened with an agency report before. The pipeline column is the thing.
Demo requests from search tripled and, more usefully, the ones that came in already understood the product. The guides did the first call for us.
Four people, one Tuesday slot, and it has never once been missed. We have had bigger agencies miss a month and call it a strategic pause.
Renewed for a second year on the strength of one number: content-attributed pipeline went from a rounding error to a line the board asks about.

Questions
The questions every first call has
Answered here so the call can be about your business instead.
How long until we see anything move?
Rankings for new pieces usually start moving in weeks six to ten. Pipeline you can point at takes two quarters, which is why the minimum term is three months and the honest one is six.
Who actually writes it?
The person who did the research. We have no freelancer bench and no AI drafts sold as writing. Every piece is interviewed, written and edited by the four names on this page.
Do we need to give you much time?
About two hours a month: one call, one expert review of a draft, and answers to a few Slack questions. If you cannot give us that, we will say so before we start.
What do you need access to?
Search Console, analytics, your CRM's reporting view and the CMS. We report on the numbers you already look at, so we need to see the same ones.
Can you work with our in-house writer?
Yes, and it is often the best setup: we do research, briefs, editing and the reporting, and your writer takes the pieces that need inside knowledge.
What happens if a piece does not work?
It is in the report with a reason and a plan. Usually we refresh it once with a different angle; if the topic was wrong, it comes out of the map and we say so.
